There appears to be some adaptation of at least one coral species to increased sea temp and the resulting coral bleaching.  Changes in the way Montastrea faveolata reacts to increased temp appear to be making this species impervious to bleaching – at least locally.  For the first time in almost 20 years M. faveolata passed through a coral bleaching event unaffected!  For some background on why see the Rowan, et.al. 1997 article posted under the Research Articles Page.
